Filmmaking Process

I was bored the other day so i just Google’d for filmmaking to learn the process of it. I found this article on Wikipedia that is pretty interesting: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Film_production

Basically Filmmaking has 5 stages:

Development – Screenwritor, Director
Pre-Production – Director
Production – AD, Actor, Cameraman, Director
Post-Production – Editor, Director
Release – EVERYONE!

Development

Mainly writing the screenplay. Usually done by the scriptwriter, and the time it takes varies from hours to months. When a screenplay is done, the director will check and make neccessary arrangements. After this is done, we move onto Pre-Production.

Pre-Production

Find a crew (usually by the director) that includes: Editor, Cameramen, Actors, AD (or assistant directors) to handle props, filming time, etc. When done, move to Production. Of course, changes can be make to the crew (hire one more actor, etc.) any time during the production and post-production.

Production

AD will prepare the neccesary props before the day of filming, and gather everyone, including directors, cameramen, actors, etc. that are involve in the filming on the next day. This happens to every single scenes that are to be filmed. Post-production will then happen either during production (with finished scenes) or after.

Post-Production

The editor then take what is already done in to the computer and edits, or, put the clips into a correct order and cut out the unneccessary parts. After that, they will apply special effects on the edited film, such as blur, speed up, etc. At last, they will put background musics into the video (if neccessary) and make sure that the musics fits the video.

The director will then check on the finished work from the editor and make neccessary changes. If this is all done, it is time to release the film!

Release

Show the finished film on YouTube, School Assembly, etc. This will be the end of the project.

Movie Club Acronym and New Logo

The Dictator President Yvette has decided that the new Movie Club Acronym is MVC! (Clap)

And so, I designed a new logo, just because our old logo is…. pretty old…. so yeah.

Any suggestions?

Roles Organization

This year we are going to reorganize the roles. Look in the chart for details:

We are basically going to split into 3 groups. Secretary is going to take care of Scriptwriting, Human Resources, and Script Editing. Treasurer is going to take care of GA, which includes Props preparation, Fundraising and Finanse, and Announcements. Directors are going to take care of other Subdirectors, Actors, and Editors, which also take cares of musics as well.

The positions this year will be:

President: Yvette Chou
Vice-President: Peter Zhang
Secretary: Paul Choi
Treasurer: Ethan Yang
